City Was “Founded in 1288”
Jhang city is situated on the left bank of the river Chenab at a distance of about 11 Kilometres from its bed. It lies between north latitude 31o -15‟ and 31o 17‟ and east longitude 72o 18‟ and 72 -22’ Railway line connecting ShorKot Cantt. Jhang City is situated about 40km from Gojra and Toba Tek Singh cities, Faisalabad city is about 76 km and Chiniot is about 86km from Jhang. Jhang city is the headquarter of Jhang District, and is located in the central portion of the Punjab province. It is known for the shrine of Sultan Bahoo and Heer and Ranjha's Tombs. The climate of the district is hot and dry during summer and cold and dry during winter. The surface of the district presents three distinct levels i.e. Sand Dunes of Thal on the extreme West, low lying river valley in the centre and old Sandal Bar on the extreme East. The rivers of Jhelum and Chenab make their way through the district and Trimmu Head-works is the pint of their confluence.
